Community Living
![]() |
The Community Living Program commenced in 1994 when the eleven people who were living together at Yalambee Hostel were given the opportunity to move into smaller homes in the community.
The transition from hostel style accommodation to community living was very successful. Participants go about their lives in a community setting and develop valuable life skills.
The residents take pride in looking after their own home, doing the household chores, grocery shopping and cooking.
They also have a variety of employment, further supporting their integration in to the community.

Oakdale Services currently manages three properties under this program on the Western Shore of Hobart.
There are still eleven residents in this program, although the clients have changed over time.
In common with other Oakdale Services clients, the "CLP'ers" have a wide range of social activities available to them, and also enjoy regular holidays both in Tasmania and interstate.
