Independent Living Units

Residents exploring the Hastings area
The original concept for the development of these units, built on The Lodge site, was to provide accommodation for ageing parent/s with a son or daughter with a disability. This was publicly advertised for expressions of interest, however the response to this new concept was conservative and the units were used in another manner.

The first unit was built in 1999 with the generous financial support of the Kangaroo Bay Rotary Club and Southern Branch, with the construction work done "at cost" by DiGiovanni Constructions. Three clients subsequently moved in to this unit from The Lodge.

In 2002 State government funding enabled two more two bedroom units to be built, accommodating a further 4 clients.
