open Southern Branch House
Southern Branch is the result of an amalgamation, in 1992, of a number of branches of the Retarded Children's Welfare Association. This enabled their role in supporting Oakdale Services Tasmania to be carried out through one branch.

The strength of the Branch is its members, many of whom have a long association with Oakdale Services and related organisations.

Regular bi-monthly meetings are held at Southern Branch House where members and guests enjoy lunch before the official meeting. This provides a good atmosphere for both business and pleasure.

On the 22nd February 2006 Mr. Tom Watt, President of Southern Branch and Mr. Geoff Harper, Deputy Chairman of Oakdale Services opened the $1.2 million final stage of a ten year building programme on the Lodge site. This was the administration area, named 'Southern Branch House'.

In his opening speech Mr. Harper said "Today we recognise the contribution made by the Southern Branch. They have been part of Oakdale Services since 1992. During those 14 years, they have contributed $100,000 towards the Geeves Wing, $50,000 towards the Dunkley Wing, $35,000 to the ILU Rotary Unit and $60,000 to the Pecats Wing and Acorn High Care Unit."

Southern Branch is now looking to a new future, developing a range of activities to involve all of those with an interest in Oakdale Services. Proposed activities include forums, guest speakers and information sessions about Oakdale Services and the disability sector in general, as well as social events.
