Workplace Giving
"A little contribution each pay can make a big difference in someone's life ... "
Paul Byrne, CEO Oakdale Services Tasmania.
What is Workplace Giving?
A simple, effective way of supporting community organisations.
An ongoing donation of a small amount comes out of your pre-tax pay so that you immediately receive the benefit of a tax deduction, no need to wait until tax return time.
As an example: if you donate $10 per pay to Oakdale and your marginal tax rate is 31.5 cents in the dollar, Oakdale will receive $10, you will contribute effectively $6.85 and the Australian Tax Office $3.15. All of the money donated directly benefits the clients, there are no administration charges against the fund. Receiving organisations have a regular income without the need to spend on ongoing campaigns, issuing receipts etc.
All monies donated will go directly to benefit our clients! Almost all clients have lived their lives on pensions and have limited opportunity to build up personal finances. Workplace Giving will assist clients to purchase essential equipment, realise a dream or even just take a holiday.
How will the funds be distributed?
A Client Benefit Fund Committee comprising staff representatives and a management representative meet quarterly to consider submissions.
Eligibility and Selection criteria are in place, allowing clients, family members, advocates or staff to submit a "Request For Funds". An annual report will be prepared detailing donations and distributions at the end of each financial year.
